2017  SKI  SWAP

Hi Creekers and MeetUp Friends:

We will be holding our 3rd Annual Ski Swap on Thursday evening, September 28th, 2017, from 4:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at The Dive Inn on1380 South Broadway, in Denver. This of course is to occur at a public venue during Happy Hour, so the restaurant will offer its usual food and drink services to us.  We will likely be toward the back.

Offerings will include all sorts of ski and snowsport-related equipment, including skis, poles, helmets, gloves, outerwear, boots; snowboards and snowboard boots; snow shoes; cross-country equipment, and perhaps ice skates. The timing of this event should work well, as the ski season won't start for over a month afterwards.

There are a few points, suggestions and restrictions to be aware of, as follows:

If you are a potential buyer, please be prepared with cash or a personal check.  No way to accept any credit cards for this!  If paying by check, you may want to bring more than one, in case you decide to purchase from multiple sellers.

 If you are a seller:
First of all, you must be a paid-up UTC member to sell at this event.  MeetUp Friends are of course welcome to shop and socialize.

There is no limit on the number of items you may offer, but you have to haul them in, and haul them out by the end of the sale if unsold.  No one will take responsibility for your items except for yourself.

All your items need to be tagged with your description (including size if appropriate), price, name and cell phone number.  Even if someone isn't prepared to purchase at that time, having your contact info for a potential future purchase will be helpful.

Certain equipment - notably skis - do either go out of fashion or are technically out of date.  The straight skis from your garage, untouched for a decade, are probably good only for making chairs out of.  You don't want them, wouldn't ski on them - and neither would anyone else - so please don't bring them.

Additionally, there is the matter of ski binding indemnification - that is, most ski shops won't work on bindings that are no longer on their list.  So if there is any question about that, you can google your bindings with the word "indemnification", and find out where you stand.

I will be bringing a collapsible clothes rack, so you can hang up clothes.  Please be sure to provide your own hangers.

This should be a fun event that is profitable for all, and looking forward to seeing you on the 28th!

On a personal note, if there is anything in particular that you are looking for (such as boots or poles in a certain size, for example) if you will contact me before the sale I may be able to bring along exactly what you are seeking.

Sincerely, Rob Schwager
